I don't know the meaning of surrender. No matter how hopeless it seems, I shall not surrender.
(On the other hand, if I am accorded lenient terms in the case of a surrender, I don't mind. A free cookie will also be rather persuasive. It's all about opportunity cost - the time and energy to check the dictionary for its meaning, or lenient terms: you choose.)
