The Science of Romance in 6N (Special Edition)

Referring to Yong Sheng's post:
Gerard(refering to yiting):"She's all mine!" Using your own words as far as possible, analyse this quote.

People say that affairs of the heart cannot be easily explained by rational concepts. That is all too true, so I shall not try to. In this post, I am going to attempt to recreate the circumstances under which this famous quote (if it wasn't famous before, it is now) was uttered by Gerard.

The quote "She's all mine!" suggests a challenge hidden between the words, a staking of claim over a prized possession, a locking of antlers as two dominant males attempt to take down the other in order to achieve breeding rights. Gerard apparently feels that his claim is threatened, and is reiterating it forcefully, with the "!" to reinforce his point. And since Yong Sheng appears to be the only one so far who has heard this quote, it seems that the quote is meant for him, putting Yong Sheng into the role of a new rival male.

The possessive tone apparent in the quote suggests that Gerard may be overly possessive of Yiting, which is rather unhealthy by general opinion, because if Yiting happens not to be the submissive type, it will result in stress and strain in future relationships, creating numerous, but significant horsts and grabens, ultimately resulting in a large fault as wide as the African Rift Valley, or even enmity, which can scar a person for the rest of his life. As the saying goes "If you truly love a person, release her and she will come back to me (i.e. a rival, for which we already have a candidate)." Or something like that.

The "all", though important, is not absolutely necessary in the quote, as "She's mine!" will roughly have the same effect. Roughly. The "all" indicates that Yiting is able to be divided (suggesting that she is not prime material, and has several factors. No offense intended, but according to Gerard, that's the truth of it), but Gerard is apparently not willing to share her, especially with Yong Sheng, which I believe is unhealthy, as friends should always share good things (yes, Yiting, compliment) with each other.

In conclusion, I would like to advise Gerard to:
1) Be less possessive of Yiting, start the relationship on an equal footing
2) Share her with Yong Sheng

And that is my humble two cents of advice which I give as a friend, despite the fact that the question asked for an analysis and not an opinion.

PS No offense intended to anyone mentioned, or anyone not mentioned at all (i.e. OCC)
=)

PPS Some people have given me feedback on this, burning a lot of my mana. And the last part about OCC may be hard to get. So I shall analyse it.
I am apologising to all whom I offended, including OCC. even though he was not mentioned.
