Saga of 6Nations Bonus Post 2

This is for Gerard. You asked for it (literally. including the pairing.)
-------------------------------------

“…On your birthday, you shall meet Mr Nice Guy…”
Dragor, Hand to the King, pondered the mysterious words of the seer as he tapped his ez-link card, and prepared to alight from the bus. Deep in thought, he did not notice the figure following him out.

“Why do you come here by yourself, to this lonely mountain upon which scrub grass is all that grows?” A soft voice spoke up from behind him. Surprised (but not startled, since Knights are never caught off their guard, as Dragor’s subconscious pompously informed him), Dragor spun around. A stocky figure, a grinning face, the long hair sweeping over the forehead…it was the bus conductor Cheney.

“This rugged scenery…it appeals to me. I come here often by myself, to meditate upon the complexities of life and to sort out my thoughts,” Dragor replied.

“And to give you an isolated place to stretch your vocal chords?” Cheney guessed.

Startled (Dragor’s subconscious grudgingly submitted), Dragor asked, “How did you know?”

“I am a kindred soul. I share many of your views on life, as well as enjoy the same pursuits as you.”

“Really? Then what is your view on life?” Dragor challenged.

“Life…it is a box of chocolates. You can’t eat it.”

Awestruck, Dragor could only stare with some measure of disbelief at the one person who knew his innermost thoughts so well. Cheney…he never knew that the friendly bus conductor, to whom he nodded in greeting every morning, was actually so similar to him…

“Treasure the beauty and tranquility on this remote mountain while you can. I should know, since you will set out to make war on the morrow on behalf of the king, while I, I will be setting out to woo the fair Treesha the next day. There is not much time for both of us here,” Cheney sighed.

“Agreed.”

“Happy Birthday.”

After that, there was no need for words. When sunset came, the two wordlessly got onto the bus, and left Brokeback Mountain.

PS I give credit where it is due. The last sentence originated from the writer of A DotA Story. And from a movie too.
